Ákos Huber is an architectural designer, furniture designer and craftsman. Originally from Hungary, his work has covered many fields ranging from furniture design to architecture, from drawings to sculpture. He completed his Master’s degree in architecture at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest.
Ákos has lived, worked and explored art, design and architecture in different cultural centers including Budapest, Berlin, Munich, London, and Portland. Cultural diversity, traveling, observing nature and landscapes are always a great source of inspiration for his designs. His work has been presented in numerous group and individual art and design shows in Europe and North America. Since moving to Oregon, Ákos has worked for award-winning architecture practices, including Allied Works Architecture and Daniel Toole Architecture.
In all his work, independent of scale or function, the handmade always plays a significant role. Ákos gives great emphasis to the fabrication process when making anything from furniture to sculpture. He finds it satisfying to discover the beauty of irregularity in natural imperfection, and uses this to create spaces and objects with individuality and character.
